Environmental Management of the Site

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study has been undertaken to assess the environmental impacts (including noise, air and water impacts during the construction and operation phases of the project) and to identify appropriate mitigation measures. The EIA Report was approved by EPD under the EIA Ordinance and an Environmental Permit was granted for the construction and operation of the designated project.

The recommended mitigation measures in the Environmental Permit will incorporated into the project. These include:

Tarpaulin covering of all dusty vehicle loads transported to, from and between site locations
Movable noise barriers
Road drainage with silt traps and petrol interceptors
Use of silt curtains around the dredging operations; use of silt screens at the intakes, restricted dredging rates and bulk filling behind constructed seawalls
